Samsung Planning To Unveil Galaxy S8 And S8 Edge/Plus At MWC 2017?

Samsuvng is expected to release the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus in mid-April. A new report claims the new smartphones could make an early appearance at Mobile World Congress in late February.

Now that CES is over, smartphone fans are focusing on what's expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona beginning on Feb. 27.
The show has been the launchpad for some of the most popular handsets, and for the last couple of years, it has produced Samsung's flagship Galaxy S series. The company took home the top prize of "Best New Handset" with 2015's Galaxy S6 edge and followed up in 2016 by launching the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

Samsung was supposedly skipping a Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus launch at Mobile World Congress 2017 in order to announce the smartphones at its own event, expected in mid-April. A new report claims the devices could make an early appearance just in time for Mobile World Congress in late February.

It's believed that Samsung has a much higher shipment goal for the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus than any of its previous Galaxy S series handsets in order to make up for the loss it incurred with the now-recalled Galaxy Note 7."There is a possibility of the S8 phones being showcased a month or two ahead of the actual release date," according to a source who spoke to The Investor on the condition of anonymity. Samsung is reportedly planning to, "showcase a small number of Galaxy S8 handsets in February or March, ahead of the official release date of mid-April."

Samsung is reportedly planning to begin mass production of the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus in March with 10 million units built for an April release. The company has already confirmed the Galaxy S8 series will feature a "slick design," improved rear camera, and enhanced artificial intelligence.Samsung Sets Its Sights High For Galaxy S8 Series

Recent reports have claimed the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus will drop hardware navigation keys for "3D Touch-like" on screen buttons, "all screen-front" bezel-less curved edge displays, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and possible support for the Galaxy Note series' S Pen stylus. Samsung is expected to use its own Exynos 8895 processor and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip to power the smartphones and is rumored to ship the devices with Harman stereo speakers for improved audio.

As always, it's best to take these types of reports with a grain of salt, and with Mobile World Congress kicking off in late February, we should begin to hear more details on whether Samsung will show off the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge/Plus
